Financial Thoughts

Christmas has forced me to look at my finances a bit more.  When the Holiday are here, you spend a lot of money and, if you're not careful, you spend too much money. 

Thus, I have been Investigating Retirement Options and trying to come up with a way to maximize the money that I will have available when I retire.  Right now, I make enough to live very well on and I do not foresee losing my job. 

However, I am aware that this could happen and so I do have a "6 month emergency fund" if that is absolutely necessary.  It is simply sitting in a savings account and not making any money.

My retirement is looking pretty good as I have been maxing out my 401k throughout the years.  But, I have recently learned How To Open A Roth IRA and that this is a very good idea as far as retirement goes.

The maximum contribution each year is $5000 after tax dollars.  This will mean setting aside about $400 dollars per week.  I think I can do that if I just do some basic things.  

In this way, a Roth IRA and max 401k contributions, I am thinking that I will be looking good when retirement.  Well, financially at least ;)

Christmas Ideas

I have had writer's block for the better part of 5 months now but I am back.  I am back to give you all Christmas ideas.  You know I have the best ideas so listen up. 

I have no Selfish Christmas Desires but Christmas is not a time to be selfish.  It is a time to be selfless and soul-Full.  Thus, I am feeling extra charitable this time of year and am here to to give you some ideas for the Best Christmas Gifts of 2009.

This will be easy because the ideas are all fresh in my head.  Let's get started. 

Get the people you most a love a digital picture frame pre-filled with the pictures of the two of you.  Pre-filled is the key.  If they have to do the work, it's not a gift, it's a chore.

Get the readers in the life you love an Amazon Kindle.  They'll remember it everytime they use it...which will be everyday. 

Get sports fans in your life tickets to their favorite team game.  This shows both time and effort put in on your part. 

Get yourself a nice watch.  Yours is old and stagnant.  Go with a Tag Heuer watch and you will never need to buy another.

Get everyone in your life a nice Christmas Card and write a note to them.  Any personalized gift is a good one.

And, finally, tell everyone that you love that you love them.  It's the best gift that you can give this year.

A Tale of Dolly Parton

I read a recent headline that Dolly Parton Back on Top of the Country Charts and I can not be more excited.  I simply love Dolly Parton.

My first Dolly memory is from the movie 9 to 5 and she appealed to me in every way.  Her genuine smile and kindness, along with her other assets, set my young mind in a good frame.  Since then, I have followed her career and thrilled to see her make a comeback.

Her new album contains the song Jolene which is now not only one of the top country hits but one of the top singles in the country is a classic.  Apparently, she performed this song, and all the songs from the album, live from London.

The odd thing about this was that I did not even know that they like country music in London.  Although come to think of it that is where the Dixie Chicks got into trouble for their George Bush comments so maybe they do have a bit of country audience.

Along with Dolly, my two other country favorites are George Strait and Randy Travis.  Each of their songs tell a story and they sing with such silky smooth voices. 

It surprises me little that country music has gone mainstream.  There is truly a tale in every song and the voices are selling point, not skinclad, sexiness with no soul!

A Stock Tale

As I sit here this Saturday morning, I am reviewing CNN Money and my portfolio does not look good.

Why not?  Well, I was never too risky.  I went with safe stocks.  And do you know what safe stocks get you?  Well, these "safe" stocks all crumbled, went out of business, and otherwise cheated me out of my money.

BlueTooth Envy

The other day, my friend Jane was driving me to work.  She was talking to herself???  No, she was talking on her cell wirelessly.  Using bluetooth. 

I asked her about it.  Very cool!

Where did you get this thing?

Well, she said, it's only like $30.  I found a list of bluetooth headset reviews and just went out and got one.

It was the best $30 that I spend.

Now, I am $30 poorer but have the coolest headset that I speak on clearly.

This bluetooth thing simply rocks!  I love it. 

A Tale of Teenage Gifting

You all know I love technology right?  So, I should not have any trouble finding my teenager a gift since I am so hip and with it!  I also checked some sites for teen gift ideas and found one that I really liked called Radical Parenting. 

There, I stayed for awhile and then continued my gift search.  I have wonderful ideas. I need to talk to other teenagers and find out more. Books are not out of the question. I get a big smile when I have found something just right. Jewelry is not out of the question. A digital picture frame may be just the ticket. The Nintendo Wii is big this year. I'd choose that every time. All teens want an iPod. Female teens love fashion items. I know I can find that perfect gift.

Teens can be difficult to buy for. Many teens like to dance. They may like dance lessons. Gift certificates are available for a lot of items. Gifts bring happiness to all. Always give gifts to the most important people in your life. Sometimes I actually look at the item in the store. A new skateboard would be enjoyed by lots of teenagers. I need to find the best Wii Games. I may be quite engaging about this. Giving gifts is a burden as well as a great pleasure. Tales from the Dance Floor

Last night, I was watching Dancing with the Stars and I loved the way that they dance.  Then, my friends wanted me to dancing with them.  And everybody was doing a sexy dance called the grind.  I have to learn how to grind dance.  This dance is so hot and sexy!

When you dance your heart rate increases. When I research an item like how to grind with a guy, I can get lost for hours.

A Golf Tale

I was reading on this golf site about the golfing life.

These golfers have a good life and I want to be one.  I want to become a pro golfer.  Like that's gonna happen!

But, at least, I want to improve my golf game. 

Golf is great. If you know how to drive a golf ball, you know something that other people do not know. I want to avoid feeling mad. Breaking 80 would make me estatic. I love learning new things and now this is added to my list.

Wii Rules

Everyday I am looking for great new Wii Games.

The Wii Console simply rules and you cannot find a better gaming console. The decision to buy it was a snap.

A video game that involves physical movement. C'mon--that's great for a lazy ass like me.

Is the this worth the price? You bet it is. It’s very simple. This is consistently rated as one of the best gifts that you can give your loved ones...or yourself.

That's how good it is for me. It is a toy that the kids pick up over and over again. The review in Consumer Reports suggested this above all the others. Let's not flirt with disaster. Wii Guitar Hero would be great if and when it works.

However I would not seek it as little as possible. The Wii Games prices have been so low recently--now is the time to buy. Really, it's a toy that all of your kids will enjoy. I insist that the public not be misled and ill-informed about that. This is a toy that you should buy.

My GPS Lets Me know Where I Am

My friend Sheila and I got lost the other day and it had potential side affects. We were nearing a bad neighborhood.

Sheila, not to be deterred, said, "Don't be scared girl...I'll just check my Portable GPS Navigator."

WTF?

Why does sheila have a GPS?

Why in the world would you need that I asked?

Well, what would we do right now? she asked?

I set out to research and buy a GPS. Consumer digest gave me plenty of options. It seems as though one called the Garmin Nuvi was the best. I read all the Garmin Nuvi Reviews that I could and everyone love.

I now own a GPS.

The Music In My Life

My boyfriend and I were just looking at the latest copy of Rolling Stone magazine and we began discussing music.

I am more of a fan of Top 40 New Singles that we hear from people like Britney and Justin. What happened with them by the way?

My boyfriend hates top 40 and refers me instead to the Top 40 Country Songs. Country? Excuse me.

I do not need to hear stories about drunken spouses who you still love.

I'm now see my boyfriend in a different light knowing that he's a country bumpkin.

My Memories on My Keychain

One cool little thing that I would like to tell ya'll about is something called the Digital Photo Keychain.

Why is a keychain cool?

Well, this device lets you put pictures on your keychain. I load up with pictures of parties, friends, and family.

I then take it out when I am depressed and all I have to do is look at some photos and I life.
